Pepper is seen everywhere, in small sachets in a fast-food restaurant, commonly paired with salt at some restaurants but did you know it’s more than just a flavour enhancer it has plenty of benefits to the human body that is essential in our daily lives.
Black pepper is high in antioxidants, it is rich in a plant compound called piperine, which have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are essential in reducing or delaying the damaging effects of free radicals. In other words, inflammation, premature aging, heart disease, and certain cancers.
Black pepper has anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduce some conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Piperine is the main compound in black pepper and helps fight inflammation.
